Objectives:

The objectives of this laboratory are to have students observe masonry construction and repeat the following laboratory tests and other operations involving masonry:

• Construct a masonry mini-wall of clay masonry units
• Determination of Initial Rate of Absorption (IRA) for clay unit using simplified method
• Masonry mortar proportioning, batching, and mixing (PCL and MC mortar)
• Measure mortar workability by flow table
• Measure mortar air content by pressure-meter method
• Construct prisms for subsequent compression and bond wrench testing
